Online Catalogue

St Helens Library Service's catalogue is an online information and research tool which allows you to access all of our resources and information in one place, either from a PC or tablet in one of our libraries or from your own device, anywhere

You can browse the catalogue and our information pages online freely, or you can log in using your library card number and PIN/password which will allow you to access further features specific to your account.

What can you do?

You can use our online catalogue to:

  • Check and manage your library membership and account
  • Renew loans for yourself or your linked accounts
  • Place and monitor reservations for yourself or your linked accounts
  • Search and browse the entire library catalogue (physical and digital) for items in all formats
  • Get personalised recommendations on titles you might like based on your reading history
  • Access our online resources and signposting to trusted information sources (please note: some resources can only be accessed within library branches)
  • Search and browse events happening throughout the library service
  • Access and manage your account on the go with the LiDA-Europe app (available to download on the App Store and Google Play)

What's different about it?

  • The search tool doesn't just search the library catalogue for books, but ALSO our digital library (eBooks, eAudiobooks and ePress items) and brings in information from the Council website, online resources and events.

  • You can search for titles, find out where they are in our branches, make a FREE reservation and select which branch you what to collect it from. If you already have an item on loan, you will also be able to renew it online with the click of a button.

  • You can add ratings to our stock which will help other library users enjoy books and reading and contribute towards your personalised recommendations.

  • Get recommendations based on your borrowing history and ratings - this is tailored to you and will take into account your likes and dislikes over time.

  • You can create lists of books you've read or want to read to keep track of that endless TBR pile.

  • If you lose or forget your library card you can display your barcode using your smartphone or print it out to display at a self-checkout machine. Just select My Library Card(s) under Your Account while logged in or press the Card button in the app.

  • You can link accounts so that you can see your family's information in one place and manage the loans of anyone you help to look after, making your life easier.

How should I get started?

Why not try searching the online catalogue for a book or author you might be interested in? For example:

  • Search for "Richard Osman" (you can try clicking the image to go straight to a search).

  • This will give you results for physical items available in our libraries as well as results for eBooks, eAudiobooks or ePress items available on BorrowBox.

  • You can read a bit about the book, see how many copies are available and where they are currently located, rate a title, add to a list, or reserve a copy right there from the search page.

  • Having trouble finding what you need or using the online catalogue? Get in touch and we will do our best to help you.
